Every once in a while something happens to affirm we’ve made the right career choice. Maybe it’s a comment from a client or the satisfaction of a job well done.
Some of the women who work in financial services for Bell Bank Wealth Management share their client experiences that let them know they had chosen the right career path.
After working with a couple for years, the husband died unexpectedly. Since we had appointments that included both the husband and wife, there was a clear understanding of their goals for the future. I was able to take the burden of financial planning off the grieving widow. My goal as a financial advisor is to assist my client in putting a plan together for the future and unexpected events. I was able to confidently give comfort to her during a difficult time in her life. That moment changed her life forever and confirmed that my role as a financial advisor went beyond finding the best return.
— Missy Hexum, vice president and financial advisor
Breaking the news to an older client that they are not financially prepared for retirement is always a difficult conversation. My hope, through education, is to empower my clients to invest in their futures by saving today. The gratification I get assisting that older client ready to successfully transition to retirement makes it all worthwhile!
— Jennifer Hill, QKA, CRSP, NSSA® vice president and relationship manager
When I go to do an educational meeting for a company that does not have many people saving in the retirement plan, and at the end of the meeting employees decide to save for retirement, I know I have helped them on their way to retirement.
— Deanna Linstad RPA, NSSA® vice president and relationship manager
In my role, one of the primary areas I specialize in is estate administration. Any time I deal with a widow/widower, that initial meeting is so important in giving them that sense of relief that we are there to take as much of the stress of the situation away, and we will be there for them throughout the entire process of handling the estate administration. It’s rewarding to witness Bell Bank provide clients that peace of mind. They know that they can call, email, or stop in and see us at any time, and we’ll be there for them.
— Angie LeClair, trust officer
I have had so many great client experiences throughout the years that make me love what I do. I get to work with clients to make retirement possible for people that may not have been able to achieve it on their own. I am the guide, or sometimes I even think of myself as the cheerleader. I am always very honest with clients about setting expectations, maybe encouraging them to work a little longer or advising them on waiting to start social security payments or suggesting some different investment options they have not have thought of. Once we reach that goal, I absolutely love seeing clients be able to look forward to their next stage of life with confidence.
— Lisa Moe, vice president and financial advisor
Due to the nature of what we do, I end up having many widows as clients. Most of the time I don’t even meet the husband, as he has already died. Seeing the stress lifted a bit for a widow who has recently lost her husband tells me that I am making a difference to her and to her children, who may not live nearby anymore, and it reassures me that I am doing what I was meant to do – help people.
— Stephanie Strand, CTFA vice president and trust officer
